Delighting

Sean and Alyssa

Longing for Timeless Portraits

On the day we delivered Sean and Alyssa's 20x30 framed print, we asked how long they'd wanted portraits around their home before getting off the fence and spending an hour with us on the acreage. "I always have, because I grew up with it." Sean told us stories of portraits around his home—especially above the fireplace. Alyssa added, "Yeah, he did, but I didn’t. I don’t think there’s ever been a picture like this around my home. I recall a few pictures of us kids, or us kids in individual pictures, but there haven’t been many of my parents or my parents with us."

Would you have liked that?
A:
I think it would have given the home a different, better feel, that our family was a unit.

What made you decide now is the time to get it?
S: It feels like a complicated question. There’s so much involved in it. There’s been so much happening in our lives, and with that our family needs to become more of a focus. We want our family to feel united, like this is us, we’re our own unit. We can celebrate who we are. And with this, I feel like we can definitely celebrate who we are as a family.
A: Couldn’t have said it better.

"We finally have a family portrait."

S: Are you ready?
A: I’m ready. I’m excited!
S: Oh, wow, that’s nice. This is gorgeous. I love the backdrop. I love it. Elly looks like a doll. Andrew looks like a teenager, practically.
A: Okay, should we put it up?
S: Yes!
A: This is gonna be so cool!
S: That is so, so lovely.
A: That is so cool.
S: We finally have a family portrait.
A: Yeah, we do. I feel kind of like your mom. Having the one of you guys, your family, in the dining room.
S: And it's even above a fireplace.
A:
*laughs*
S: This looks better.
A: This totally speaks to our family.
S:
I like the fact that our outfits and hairstyles are timeless.
A: This is going to be up for a loooooong time.

Blessed & Delighted

Is having this portrait on your wall worth the effort involved in having your portraits taken?
S: All I had to do was show up. How was it, Alyssa?
A: We’re pretty simple in our hairstyles. Nothing real fancy. And it wasn’t difficult to figure out what I envisioned for outfits. I liked that. And now that I can see this framed print on the wall, I feel blessed.
S:  And delighted. When the kids are screaming and having bad attitudes, we’ll more easily remember that they can be nice.
