THE PLANNING | how to prepare well

Eagle Ridge Photography & Design finds its home at 5358 Darrow Ave NE in Buffalo, Minnesota—a little slice of perfection in the panoramic countryside of Wright County, about 45 minutes northwest of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Find us on a map right here.

We want you to get exactly what you want from your time with us, so we begin with a simple inquiry phone call. If what we offer is what you're looking for, we'll schedule a planning meeting and begin penciling in your dates.

We'd love the honor of connecting with you to discuss your photography needs.

Click here to see Camry's availability for a phone call, and pick a time and date that work for you.

Your session fee encompasses a comprehensive in-person planning meeting, one hour of natural, outdoor-oriented family portraits on the Eagle Ridge acreage, and your choice of a complimentary 16x20 acrylic, premium canvas, or framed and matted print to kickstart your gallery design.

Nope. (Surprise!)

We only require a session fee for your very first portrait session at Eagle Ridge Photography & Design. Once we've worked together, we're friends. Come back to us as frequently as you'd like. You won't pay a session fee again.

Your inquiry call and the planning meeting work together to guarantee we're all on the same page.

These are the main purposes of your planning meeting:

  1. Get acquainted with each other.
  2. Preview the acreage and brainstorm special locations for your unique portraits.
  3. Lay out your goals for displaying your portraits at home.
  4. Preview wall art, albums, and keepsakes.

We want you to love your portraits as much as we love them, so we pour our time into your family. As a result, on the day of your session we'll all be looking forward to the camaraderie that naturally develops during an hour on the acreage.

And on the day of your reveal, the hardest work we'll need to do is match your favorite portraits to products you already know you love.

THE PORTRAITS

We prioritize poses, angles, colors, and artistic details that are true-to-life expressions of your family’s unique spirit and charm. We deepen colors and contrast, but not to the extent your images feel stylized.

Your portrait session will include a mix of posed and playful prompts, like whispering, lifting, and snuggling. We’ll guide you through natural poses, with little tweaks along the way.

It’ll be so simple we're confident you’ll forget how apprehensive you were about having pictures taken.

We hear this from so many of our families. And you know what? They end up being some of our favorite clients to work with.

Can we let you in on a secret? The first 20 minutes of your shoot are going to feel awkward. They feel like that for everybody. If you feel awkward, you’re normal. Let it go and enjoy each other’s company.

Throughout your session we'll be extremely clear, down to the tiniest details, about what you can do to look and feel natural. We won't let you mess this up.

Logistically, though?

We'll teach you how to incorporate layers (including accessories), and encourage you to care for your skin and hair. We'll also walk you through what to bring and what to expect on the day of your session. And if you're longing for a fresh wardrobe, we can point you to a dozen boutiques in Buffalo and the surrounding cities.

We share our work in three primary locations.

  1. Browse our seasonal look books, which we affectionately call "View from Home". They're our favorite way to give you a virtual tour of the Eagle Ridge acreage. Download one or more for free at www.eagleridgephotography.com/look-book.
  2. View a wide selection of our favorite portraits on our Portfolio page. We've organized the images to show you the highlights of portraits through the seasons. (Want more context than the slideshow allows? Read our session recap blog posts here.)
  3. See how we decorate our own home with beloved wall art, albums, and keepsakes when you arrive for your session.

THE PROCESS | how to get portraits into your home

The Eagle Ridge Experience is right for your family if you value the incomparable joy of printed portraits, and you yearn to hold them in your hands, see them on your walls, and give them as gifts to your family.

Do any of these resonate with you?

  • You welcome regular reminders of why you get up every morning.
  • You appreciate ongoing feelings of trust, generosity, empathy, connection, and safety within your family.
  • You enjoy watching your kids mature through new experiences.
  • You crave margin in your days to simply reflect on what you love about each person in your family.
  • You savor the wonder of memories—especially in light of how quickly the years pass.

We know you already know this, but it bears repeating: Portraits on your walls and in your hands fill all of those longings.

So set aside time to tour the Eagle Ridge acreage before your session, enjoy its abundance with your family during your session, and revel in the tranquility of gallery design on a date night in our log home. If your life needs more of all of this, then the Eagle Ridge Experience is right for you.

In short, you can expect an evening as relaxing and effortless as snuggling up with a new book in front of a warm fire (and if you schedule your reveal for the cooler months of the year, we can even factor in the warm fire).

This is when we turn your dreams for a gallery into a tangible display that fits your home and your budget.

As you settle onto our enormous couch, we'll lead you in refining ideas from your planning meeting to emphasize your favorite portraits. You’ll identify all of your favorite images, at which point we’ll help you match them to products you already know you love, like wall art, albums, keepsakes, and gifts.

By the end of the meeting you’ll officially decide which products to purchase and you’ll make your payment.

All decision makers should be present at the reveal.

Can’t make a decision right away? We’ll schedule a follow-up meeting to help you finalize your purchase within the week. Products and images will be delivered when paid in full.

We offer a variety of options to display your favorite portraits, from large-scale to small. We encourage you to hang art on your walls, set it on your coffee table, display it on your shelves and mantel, hang it on your fridge, and gift it to your parents and grandparents.

View and touch countless pieces when you visit the Eagle Ridge acreage during your planning meeting, as well as during your reveal. You'll see how we decorate our own home with our favorite images.

KEEPSAKES

Grace every nook in your home with simple reminders of your blessings. Keepsakes, which make great gifts, include our Easel Collection, framed tabletop prints, metal magnets, and mini snapshots, and can hold anywhere from three to 20 images.

Keepsakes start at $200.

GIFT PRINTS

Brighten favorite picture frames with small mounted prints for parents and grandparents. Gift prints are mounted to a 3mm board for easy framing or display, and are available in the following sizes: 4x6, 5x7, 8x10, and 8x12.

Gift prints start at $116.

DIGITAL FILES

When the thought of leaving the remainder of your portraits on the table (so to speak) starts feeling like you’re leaving your puppy out in the cold, take home a set of digitals—or your entire gallery.

Full gallery, typically >30 images: $3,000. Set of 10: $1,800.

YOUR SESSION FEE

If this is your first time at the Eagle Ridge acreage for portraits, you'll pay your session fee in full upon reservation, using our online scheduler. We'll create a custom calendar event and share the link directly with you. Due to the sensitive nature of scheduling multiple families at a time, we regret that we cannot hold your session time for you until you have paid the session fee.

YOUR REVEAL & ORDERING SESSION

You'll pay for your products during your reveal & ordering session.

We ask that all decision makers be present at the reveal—yes, even if you’ve agreed on a budget and decided on your purchases ahead of time. This way, any spontaneous purchases will be a joint decision.

If, for an unforeseen reason, you can’t make a decision right away, we’ll schedule a follow-up meeting to help you finalize your purchase within the week.

We’ll send your order to our lab when you have paid in full.

You can expect to receive your art and digital files within 4-6 weeks of finalizing your purchase. Regardless of whether you order a set of digital files (i.e., a set of 10 or the entire gallery), you will receive the corresponding digitals for portraits included in your wall art and albums.

If you don't like your portraits, even after a relaxed hour on the Eagle Ridge acreage during your portrait session, as well as a private reveal & ordering session in our home, then we’ll gift you a second session. Still don’t like your images—or not interested in a gifted session? We’ll refund your session fee.

We going to go out on a limb and guess that you've been burned by a previous photographer.

If you have, then even as you're reading about the innumerable delights of choosing Eagle Ridge Photography & Design for your family's portraits, you're probably also remembering that other time when you thought you were about to get everything you wanted—you know, right before everything fell apart.

(Okay, maybe that's a bit extreme. Perhaps your other photographer ghosted you, or delivered images that left much to be desired, or took forever to respond to your messages.)

We offer a no-risk satisfaction guarantee because we are steadfast in our mission to delight your family. But what does that mean?

  • It means if you don't love your portraits, we'll gift you a second session to try again. And if you don't love those either, we'll refund your session fee.
  • It also means we'll personally cover the replacement cost of your wall art, albums, and keepsakes in the event of an accident. Did one of your kids (or, let's be honest, it could be you) spill water all over your album? Did a framed print get knocked off the wall and crack? Did someone sit on a mounted print in your Easel Collection because it was left on the couch hidden under a blanket? Yeah, we'll replace those for you.

Forget everything you think you know about working with a family photographer. We're full-service. We’ll hold your hand through every step of the portrait process, and by the time we reach the end of it you’ll have memories from our acreage that will outlive your session—and you'll have the art to show for it.

Our Eagle Ridge Experience is a delight for your whole family.
